Some of Mr Huang's thoughts on preparation for PSLE- the final lap

Dear Parents,

Here are some of my thoughts on how the boys can best prepare for their first paper this Thursday.

Preparation for PSLE started in P5 and the pupils should have been consistently preparing for the PSLE. The boys should try not to cram 2 years of preparation into 3 days, and risk falling sick, burning out or become over-stressed to the point of experiencing insomnia, as some of the boys said they have been experiencing.

On the other hand, these 3 days prior to PSLE should enable the students to come out fresh, confident, having a good nights sleep in preparation for their first paper on Thursday.

Definitely, the pupils should revise their work, especially the completed worksheets, going through the papers in their Maths and science file. However, they can balance their revision with some chillout time. We as a class discussed some ways to do this:
1) going out for dinner as this will provide a new environment that will help that take their mind of their stress.
2) some light exercise like cycling around the estate

However, in Mr Huang's opinion they should not be playing computer games as this will tire their mind out.

The boys should sleep early. However, there should be some buffer time between the time they end revision to the time they go to bed, because the mind requires some time, possibly 45-60 mins to wind down and drift off to sleep.

The boys also reported to me their stress level on a scale of 1-10. I hope you will talk to them about their stress level today, how they can plan 3 days of revision, and how they can manage the stress wisely so that they can be fresh, ready and confident for their first paper on Thursday.

Hope this is helpful

Mr Huang
